Meet Lucy

Lucy is an intelligent, sociable, and active middle-aged woman from Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, despite never committing a crime, she's had to live almost entirely in solitary confinement since the age of two, in Edmonton, Canada, of all places. Lucy is one of the approximately 23 African and Asian elephants still kept in captivity in Canada in 2026. She is held at the Edmonton Valley Zoo (link to the official zoo webpag
